The Brothers of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a religious order in the Diocese of Steubenville, founded in 1948 by Bishop John King Mussio, Steubenville’s first bishop.
At the time, Bishop Mussio said, “The Brothers of the Immaculate Heart of Mary serve a definite need in this Diocese of Steubenville. ... The Brothers are prepared to be teachers, secretaries, nurses, catechizers, sacristans, census-takers and camp counselors.” The bishop said the brotherhood “represents a distinct vocation. ... It is an opportunity offered for godly service to those young men who realize they have a call for a particular kind of work and service in prayer provided by the brotherhood. We need brothers as helpers of our parish priests.”
